Orino, starting point for many points of interest here in the Campo dei Fiori. Today we bring you to the discovery of its fortress of ancient origins, think dated around the third century b.c.
Departure from the square of Orino, where you will find fountains to fill up with water before leaving.
A typical club will be waiting for you for the return to cheer you with local food. Curiosity of the place, one or two dishes, written at the entrance, those are the dishes, the only ones, that you will find on that day. Every day will be different apart from the Monday that is closing.
We leave following the signs that from the center lead us to the northern part of the park and we skirt the upper part of the village until you reach an old wash house, where you will find some goodies of the country (it is not the only one, even in the municipality you will find one)A small table where you can consult or bring a good book to leave to those who will come after us.
Are you thirsty?! No we leave the flask and continue in the direction of Fonte Gesiola, intermediate stage today.
After less than a km you reach a clearing where we will find picnic tables and the source that unfortunately, as well as the crotto Gesiola, are closed for reasons unknown to us, and it is a real shame.
We continue in the direction of the Rocca, which we will reach along a simple flat path.
The Fortress is presented to us in all its majesty. The fortress is an ancient fortress that thanks to its dominant position guarantees excellent visibility over the entire Valcuvia.
Historians have assumed that this building dates back to the third century a.c. but unfortunately today no visible trace remains.
You can return to Orino closing the ring without descending again to the source and you will return to the town in a little more than a km.
Path type: dirt track
