Then there are days when you reach a small village of four souls in the province of Varese and decide to go up into the hills, in the peace of the green that surrounds you. A small village very quaint and picturesque in which you can find small works of art.
Every view deserves a photo, a sigh, a glance, but the best part is to go up to the alp and for those who want to go up to San Martino. The climb is about 2 km on cobblestones, not too challenging because short and with about 290 of positive height gain. All in the shade and under the trees, the path comes out after about 2 km to come out at the Alpe di Duno, also called “Consortium” in the past.
Here lives a nice gentleman who for 23 years has moved here to live immersed in nature, with his animals, and be a reference point for locals who want to spend some time in nature, as it was once done. The smile of this person will put you back in a good mood if you weren’t, the enthusiasm with which he does the simplest things makes us go back in time a bit and remember how nice things used to be. Salami, cheeses, wood carvings collected in the woods, honey, these are just some of the things he makes and sells to the few local guests of his home.
Here we also organize events with children and themed excursions with schools and that is why some volunteers from neighboring countries come to give him a hand, to return the mountain with its true value. To go down you can also make a ring and do the path a little ‘shorter, which cuts along the chestnut trees of the valley. Ultimately, this place touched us because it really touches on our slogan “Discover Outdoor, Taste Nature”. There are so many places like this around, keep following us, we’ll make you discover them!
