The idea of this excursion is to take advantage of two beautiful valleys, not very beaten, but very scenic, such as Val di Dona and Val d’Urai.
Our advice is to park in Mazzin, walk along the bicycle path towards Fontanazzo and take the first useful path to Val di Dona, so that on the way back you can arrive comfortably from Val d’Urai directly to the car.
Val di Dona is a very long and wide valley with the homonymous refuge Dona in the middle,
while Val d’Urai is wilder and with two in the waterfalls.
We recommend for ease of use to go up from Dona and down from Urai.
The two valleys join at the bottom of the valley and both go up towards the mouth from which you can see the Antermoia Refuge and immediately after the homonymous lake. There is also a third valley, Val Duron, from which you can arrive after a much longer walk and for this reason we do not recommend it on foot (rather by bike). The ascent to Antermoia does not present any particular difficulty, but has a good difference in height and takes its time.
From the lake you can reach the Antermoia Pass and on a sunny day you can enjoy a breathtaking view on the Vajolet Towers and the rest of the valleys.
On the way back you can enjoy the descent and also see the Alpe di Siusi to the north, coming down from the Antermoia Refuge. Enjoy the descent, a bit technical at some points of the Val d’Urai to Mazzin, is just the final part of an incredible ring for views and landscapes.
