The Orecchiella Park offers practically endless opportunities to set out and explore places, from mountains to lakes, from villages to cities.
Today we’ll try to take you to the Scaloni Pass from an alternative route to the one in Corfino. We are already higher this time and parking immediately after the main entrance of the park you can turn right and begin our journey.
The road, initially on asphalt for the first km, becomes unpaved soon after but remains on dirt road.
We need to walk about 4 km to get to the side path on the left that will direct us to the Scaloni Pass.
From here begins the climb that will take us directly to the ridge where in the distance we will see the Scaloni Pass and Monte Vecchio.
All that remains is to continue for a few kilometers until you cross the path that comes from Campaiana. From here on the path will be unique until the top.
From the pass it is possible to continue up to Monte Vecchio or choose other peaks near there, always on the border with Emilia Romagna. For the view of the two regions instead just stop here for a moment and swing between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna.
This path is surely less long and hard than the other one that starts from Corfino and it is advisable for those who have a very good training in their legs.
Trail type: asphalt the first km then dirt road and mountain path
Water: you need to be self-sufficient
